NIKE OggO

AnimationDirectionStory
Oggo, Nike Art of Speed Project Directed. One of the artist films for Nike's *Art of Speed* (2004) — the campaign where Nike commissioned a group of independent directors and studios to interpret a single word, *speed*, each in their own language. Mine started as a pun. Speed leads to "go," and "go" turned into OggO — a way to personify speed itself. The idea imagines that every bit of speed in the world is really a swarm of tiny, happy creatures called OggO, locking together and charging joyfully straight ahead. When they run, speed happens; the faster they go, the more euphoric they get, multiplying and growing more exaggerated. But the moment the runner tires, the OggO world turns against them — strange traps and bizarre obstacles rise up and put them in danger. Only when the OggO fight through all of it and start running again does the runner, too, break into that same euphoria and finish the race. The whole emotional arc of running — the effort, the wall, the second wind, the joy — told through one invented character. 2004
